Roses for Ayla

I started a new quilt for my Daughter Ayla. It will be a quilt with roses.
The blocks are 11 inch and the circles are sewn by hand on the blocks.
I also have another background fabric; white on white polka dots.
I will hand quilt a circle around the circle with a different colors of pink embroidery floss.

Crochet throw finished

The trow I started way back is finished!

It's lying on the sofa an used very well :-)

Floating Churn Dash

I have sewn together half of my blocks for the Floating Churn Dash quilt.
I'm going to hand quilt it with the QAYG technique.

It's too hot here to do the other blocks though....  :-(

QAYG Finished

What a joy to make a quilt with the QAYG method!
I can make a droomdekentje in a weekend :-) YAY!!!

This is the result of my first attempt on QAYG, it's a small quilt, only 60x80cm (25x35inch).

The front.

The back.

First attempt to QAYG

I wanted to try the Quilt As You Go method and I asked in my Double Dutch Group if anyone had tried the method by Maureen Cracknell.

Nicolette directed me to this tutorial.
I read it and I thougt it was a 'gedoe' (hassle) with the strips.

Lo and behold  this link popped up on my Facebook page!
I've watched it and it is the same method as Nicolette pointed out, but now with a moving images:-)

So I started yesterday evening with the Scrappy Log Cabin blocks I received from swaps on Swap-bot and this is the result so far.

As I have joint problems and I can't quilt very long/often, I think this is my new favorite method to make droomdekentjes.

I can still make quilts for sick children and limited the strain on my fingers and wrists. YAY!!!

With the QAYG method to alternate, I can hand quilt the quilts I make for family and friends.

Blocks for the Siblings Together Block Drive

I've made my 4 blocks for the Siblings Together Block Drive. Sarah set up the block drive for people who couldn't donate a whole quilt but wanted to contribute anyway.

She wants to make a quilt for an older boy and asked us to make a Churn Dash block in blue, grey, red, orange or green from our own stash.

I made these  blocks in the hope some boy will love the quilt Sarah will make from all the blocks she receives :-)

Socky Finished!!!

The Socky quilt for my son in law is finished. Well before his birthday in September :-)

Now I can give myself permission to get on with my Floating Churn Dash blocks.

I always think I should finish something before starting something new.

Not that I'm succesful at this :-)

Your Color My Design block

This is a block I made for the Your Color My Design swap I'm hosting on Swap-bot.
I can choose the design I want to make, but my partner can pick up to four colors for her block.
My partner chose black and white and grey if  needed.

So I made this block in black and white, no grey needed :-)

The HST are made from 'Sketch' and the centre block is made from 'Ironing a Shirt'.

Bold Block #9

I'm hosting a swap on Swap-Bot for a BOLD quilt block.
The design is senders choice as long as the colors are BOLD.

I've made this block for my partner.

More and more Scrappy Log Cabins

I'm hosting a 10 month swap on Swap-Bot for a Scrappy Log Cabin block. This is swap #5.

I still like the scrappy blocks, I've made ziplock baggies with 2,5" , 4,5" , 6'5" and 8,5" strips so I can grab without looking and maybe want to coördinate :-)

First cuts for the Floating Churn Dash quilt

I've cut all the pieces for the Churn Dashes.
(The purple is much richer and more like the color of the background fabric)

I have 15 different fabrics:

Rain Purple Mini Drops

Rain Lemon Mini Drops

Rain Cheddar Mini Drops

Rain Bubble Gum Mini Drops
 Ziggy Grape Sketch Chevron
Ziggy Peony Sketch Chevron
Ziggy Yellow Sketch Chevron
Ziggy Orange Sketch Chevron
Textured Basics Red Vintage Houndstooth
Textured Basics Tangerine Vintage Houndstooth
 Sketch Lime Screen Texture
Sketch Cherry Screen
Sketch Orange Screen Texture
Sketch Candy Screen Texture
Pam Kitty Love Red on White Gingham

The background fabric is not a designer one and very stiff.
It's in the washingmachine at the moment and I hope it will soften a bit...

I think I will cut the fabric for the background sometime this week,

I have to give my wrists some rest :-)

Scrappy Bento Block

This is a block I've made for a swap on Swap-bot.
The design is senders choice but the colors are the recipients choice.
My partner asked for a teal - pink - yellow block.
I don't have much teal , so fingers crossed she likes this block :-)

I've used the tutorial by Red Pepper Quilts for the Bento Box.

The fun part is: I got a 'bonus block' I can keep myself
and use in the BOLD quilt I will make one day!

I want to make a Churn Dash quilt and surfing the internet I came across this block
I think is a fun block so this will be my block of choice :-)

I will use this test block in a BOLD quilt I'm going to make for charity, for Droomdekentjes

My iPad cover. I used newspaper fabric because we bought the iPad to read the news digital and it was a birthday present for my DH and I don't think he will carry a pink cover :-)

Little Quilt of Love #24

When I pulled my red fabrics to make this one I discovered I have over 25 different red fabrics!
What does that say about me :-)

Organizing...

Organized my fabric... Not so neat as I sometimes see, but very organized to me:
5 piles of fabric devided in stripes-dots-florals-solids and everything else :-).

One box of fabric I don't use often, two piles of large backing fabric
and my fleece and wadding together.

A small box with all kinds of rose fabric to make a large quilt someday for my eldest daughter.

I'm happy! :-)

do.Good Stitches Comfort Circle

As of this April I'm a member of the do.Good Stitches Comfort Circle. A charity bee. It's the Western European circle of the do.Good Stitches group. I'm so happy to be part of this bee :-)

For the month of April we make 2 Japanese plus and X blocks.
The background fabric had to be a low volume fabric.

Rainbow Zig Zag quilt is done

The Rainbow Zig Zag quilt is done and is already given to my nephew for his birthday.

I always love how the quilts come out of the dryer, all crinkled up :-)

Ahoy Matey

A quilt in the making for my nephew who like pirates :-)

I'm handquilting as I always do. The quilt must be finished by the end of April.
Well that shouldn't be a problem!
